Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)

The Broward MPO is responsible for transportation planning and funding allocation in urbanized Broward County. The Broward MPO works with the public, planning organizations, government agencies, elected officials, and community groups to develop transportation plans.

Commissioner Colbourne represents District 5 and is currently the Deputy Vice Chair. She was awarded the “Complete Streets Champion Award” during the 2023 Safe Streets Summit, for being an exceptional leader and catalyst in advancing Complete Streets in Broward County.

City of Miramar Projects:

Commissioner Colbourne has been instrumental in securing millions of funds for transportation, mobility and complete streets projects in Miramar, such as:

• University Drive Mobility Improvements (Bike Lanes, Sidewalks, Lighting, Bus Shelters and a pedestrian bridge across canal)
• Dykes Road Mobility Improvements (Bike Lanes, road rehabilitation and reusrface)
• SW 64 Avenue (Sidewalks. draiange and road rehabilitation and resurface)
• Historic Miramar Complete Streets between SR-7 and SW 62 Avenue (Sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, and bus shelters along SR-7)
• Miramar Parkway Streetscape between SW 64 Avenue and SW 68 Avenue
• Miramar Parkway Bike Lanes between SW 172 Avenue and SW 184 Avenue
• SW 184 Avenue shared use path between basscreek road and Miramar Parkway
• Roaundabout at Basscreek road and SW 148 Avenue

Future Projects Include:

•  Utopia Drive Linear Park – Rehabilatiom of asphalt walkway
• Sherman Circle mobility improvements – Construct 10’ shared use path and pedestrian lighting
• Countyline Road between Red Road and Flamingo Road – Construct 10’ shared use path and pedestrian lighting
• SW 148 Avenue between Basscreek Road and SW 27 Street – Construct 10’ shared use path and sidewalks
• Miramar Parkway between Commerce Parkway and Douglas Road – Construct 10’ shared use path, bike lanes and ADA intersection improvement
• Historic Miramar Sidwalk Improvements between SR-7 and SW 62 Avenue – New sidewalks
• AC Perry School Sidewalk improvements – Construct new sidewalks in the vicinity of the school
